The major enemies of all latex masks are:

  1. Perspiration- It contains oils, and oil rots rubber.
  2. Petroleum- Any kind of oil, Vaseline, or solvent, dissolves latex.
  3. Sunlight- UV rays and ultraviolet. They also make rubber brittle.
  4. Heat- Heat will bake out the natural moisture rubber needs.
  5. Crushing- If folded, and under pressure, masks will crease.
